Charlie's Dream
by Michael Omartian, Stormie Omartian

Album: The Builder

Charlie's dream was out in California,
Somewhere in West L.A.
He arrived, expectations in his suitcase,
And found him a place to stay.
Months and months passed,
All he saw were those hard times.
Soon he knew his luck only ran part time,
Or no time at all.

Charlie stayed there, tried to make it workout,
And find him that pot of gold.
"I'll keep reaching even if it kills me,"
He said as his blood ran cold.
Sinking deep, he called for help and said,
"Save me, Lord."
The Lord He said, "I'll show you where your wealth is stored,
Just lay down your dream and look to me."

You and I,
Have a touch of Charlie hidden deep inside.
You and I,
Have a dream in each of us that's been denied.

Time was wasting, Charlie weighed his choices,
To see what his heart would do.
Giving up the dream of a lifetime,
Was worse than anything he knew.
Still he saw the only way and said,
"Take it Lord."
And in his hand appeared a gift - like a great reward -
And the label read, "CHARLIE'S DREAM."

You and I,
Have a touch of Charlie hidden deep inside.
You and I,
Have a dream in each of us that's been denied.
